If you're looking for smart, budget-friendly travel hacks—especially with all the new TSA guidelines in place—you’re in the right place.
Come shop with me at Dollar Tree, and I’ll show you how to save a ton of money on packing, organizing your suitcase, and getting the most out of your travel wardrobe.
My Favorite Dollar Tree Packing Hack
The first thing I always grab? A hanging 8-pocket shoe organizer from the closet section. Trust me, this is a game-changer.
I label the pockets with duct tape:
- The three left pockets say “Top”

- The three right pockets say “Bottom”

- The bottom two pockets say “Layer”

This becomes my mix-and-match travel wardrobe system, giving me over 15 outfit combinations from just eight pieces.

I pack lightweight, quick-dry items (usually from Walmart) so I can rinse and wear them multiple times during a trip.

Once it's set, just take it off the door, fold it up with your hooks, and pack it in your suitcase. Pro tip: wear your bulkiest items on travel day for even more flexibility!

Packing Tips for New TSA Guidelines
Travel rules have gotten stricter, especially around personal item size and liquids.

Here’s how I make it all work:
✅ Shoe Hack
Slip flats or slim shoes between the bars inside your suitcase.

Cover them with Dollar Tree shower caps to keep clothes clean.

✅ Wet Storage
Grab a 2-pack of large storage bags—perfect for sandy swimsuits or seashells on the way home.

✅ Drawer Organizer
Use a Dollar Tree zip-up drawer bin on the other side of your suitcase. If it's too tall, just bend the cardboard. I use mine for PJs, undergarments, swimsuits, and socks.

When I get to my hotel or Airbnb, I just lift it out and pop it in a drawer. So simple!

Security + Organization Hacks
🟢 Zip Ties for Security
Colorful zip ties are great for securing backpacks, fanny packs, and zipper pulls. I also use them to color-code luggage by family member.

🟢 Affordable Drinkware
Skip pricey airport drinks! Pick up a Dollar Tree water bottle or hot cup with a tight lid and bring your own tea, coffee, or flavor pouches.

Dollar Tree Liquid Storage Solution
Liquid rules can be a headache, but I found a Dollar Tree 4-in-1 liquid container pack that makes it easy.

Each holds just over 2 oz. I separate them:
- One pack for the shower
- One for the sink (morning + night routine)

They fit perfectly in a quart-size Ziploc bag, or you can use one of Dollar Tree’s clear purse organizers for easy TSA access.
Maximizing Your Personal Item
With stricter carry-on rules, it’s important that your purse fits inside your personal item. I use a bag with a sleeve that fits over my suitcase handle—it’s a lifesaver for my back and joints.

Use zip ties here too for easy ID in the overhead bin.

My Overpacking Solution
If you're an overpacker (guilty!), my best tip is: hard-sided luggage. You can’t overstuff it, and it keeps you honest with space.

The Joy of Easy Travel
I truly believe that travel is the best teacher, and getting organized means I spend less time stressing and more time making memories.
There’s nothing better than opening my suitcase, hanging my organizer in the closet, setting up my drawer, and feeling totally settled in minutes.
